So, the background is that our party just got stomped by the big baddie. My warlock was damaged the worst, as they got the knowledge of everything bored into their skull so hard that they started bleeding out. Our party was transported to the inn, and this interaction took place:

DM: You hear the barkeep say: “Wake up, are you three alright? WAKE UP!”

Warlock (Me OoC): I immediately wake up in a panic and Eldritch Blast the wall next to the barkeep *Rolls a Nat1 to hit*

DM: You hit him square in the face, Roll damage.

Me : *rolls 15 on damage, Nat 10 plus 5 from Agonizing Blast*

DM: *Desperately rolls die in order to save the barkeep* Nevermind, you don’t hit him in the face, you obliterate him.

Me: HOW?

DM: You used your most powerful spell… ON A COMMONER!

The barkeep rolled 3 total health, and failed his improvised dex save to dodge the attack, which was a DC10 due to my character just waking up and actively panicing. 5x overkill.
