this sort of epic trend of people getting obsessed with east asian media like kdramas and anime, move to japan/korea to become an english teacher, pick up the first asian man they see walking the streets, and create the worst genre of youtube videos to plague the platform has gone on for literally. too long
They learned how to monetize yellow fever.
the venus angelic one is especially nasty and wild because she purposely makes herself look ~asian with makeup (she’s swiss lmao), makes her voice all weird and childlike, and has had multiple public beefs with her own mom over it, like….
I want to point out a YouTube channel that does the “Moved to Japan and is dating a Japanese person” thing well.
They are well known for their Jun’s kitchen channel and this video in particular
But their main channel is Rachel and Jun and is actually largely about Japan mostly directed to people interested in moving there.
They met almost 10 years ago when Rachel joined the Air Force and they asked her to major in Japanese. She went to study abroad in Japan and met Jun on her very first day as he was her Resident Assistant and they instantly fell in love and had the whole secret forbidden relationship (RAs aren’t supposed to date students) as explained in this video (it’s a really grossly cute video watch it if u want fluff). They have been married for a couple of years now.
And Rachel actually does a video about dating Japanese people (it doesn’t really cover yellow fever and stuff but still)
And also
It’s a channel that really respects Japanese culture and doesn’t just like it as like a weaboo thing and it’s a really good channel and they are just a super cute example of a healthy relationship even outside of being an American/Japanese couple
