Finally finished the designs for the fairies! I actually had more generic designs to serve as examples for the different types of fairies, but after I uploaded Navi a lot of folks asked for designs of Ciela, Tatl, and Tael. SO! Here they are, serving as representatives of their respective type of fairy!

-Fairies are creatures that are created by the Great Fairies themselves. No fairy is ever naturally born nor are they equipped to reproduce, and so Fairies, by nature, are sexless.

-Despite being born out of hand-creation, Fairies do have a growth cycle. They are “born” as children, passed the toddler stage and into a full-on child stage, and from there they will grow into a teen, then a young adult, then finally an adult. Their growth process freezes once they hit maturity. Though immortal, Fairies are incredibly vulnerable due to their small size, so mortality rates are relatively high. They are at their strongest when in large groups.

-Fairies are meant to act as tiny vigils of the lands, but they also serve as guides of the eternal Kokiri. Sometimes a fairy is assigned to a Kokiri but generally they choose the child they wish to protect, but a fairy must be an adult before they choose a Kokiri child.

-Navi is an Air Fairy, and these fairies are known to be bird-like in appearance. They all have 2 pairs of wings and are entirely covered in feathers, and while the most common color for them to come in is blue they can be just about any color in general. They’re moderately sized fairies, about the size of a small-ish bird, and are by far the fastest: their movements are often mistaken for that of a regular hummingbird.

Ciela is a Water Fairy, fairies that are very fish-like. They’re covered in leathery skin with a thin layer of scales and come in a wide variety of color, often in very flashy and saturated markings. While Air and Fire fairies don’t grow hair, Water fairies are a variation that generally do in a thick mane on the head. All Water fairies have rows of shark-like teeth and prey on small fish and insects.

Tatl is an Earth Fairy, and these fairies are very insect-like. Some are known to have four arms instead of just two, but they all are thin and tall by nature: they’re by far the tallest fairies once adulthood is reached. Not all Earth fairies have stingers but some do, and all have a pair of flexible mandibles adorning their faces. Tatl may be a different type of fairy than her baby brother, but they were created using the same spell. This is a rare occurrence: siblings don’t usually happen with fairies, and a spell doesn’t usually shift its nature enough to create more than one specific fairy, so Tatl and Tael are an unusual pair.

Tael is a Fire Fairy, the largest fairies of the group. Tael’s just small because of his youth. Fire fairies are very reptilian in appearance, often likened to being a humanoid dragon. They often have huge, wide wings and a pair of tail fins for better steering, and their heads are adorned with horns and spikes: they never grow hair. Their ears can vary between being wing-like or fin-like, and their bodies are covered in tough, ridged scales. They’re probably the most durable of the fairies because of their protective scales.

-All fairies have a faint glow surrounding their bodies: this glow is the visible manifestation of their magic aura. While all fairies have a distinct color unique to themselves, a fairy’s aura may change in color depending on their health. The only time a fairy is entirely lacking in their glow is if they are near death.
