we need a proper classification system for gay/trans content in media so we can stop confusing each other
level 0: literally nothing here
level 1: two white men interact and have 474859 fanfics on ao3
level 2: outright queerbaiting
level 3: well written relationships that can still be passed off as friendships, narratives and characterization that really speak to being gay or trans, stuff with That Vibe
level 3.5: deliberately written as LGBT but censored into ambiguity (thanks @earthtotoddlerbitch!)
level 4: the elusive canon LGBTs. explicit relationships, characters saying “i am X”, etc.
level 5: Level four, but with main character whose LGBTQ+ isn’t the source of trauma or tension.
Bonus points if they don’t die
