A bit of background: My party was on a ship that had been integrated into a giant evil occult space hulk. This ship’s engineering deck was full of radiation and we wanted the amazing loot down there.
Party Fixer[PF]: “I fix the piloting console” *rolls legendary success*
DM: “you somehow manage to fix the gunnery console as well as the pilot console without meaning to.”
Party Courtier Warrior[PCW]: “That still doesn’t solve the radiation problem”
PF: “this is only the start. I fix the engineering console” Success
DM: “ok it’s working too”
PF: “I pilot the ship so it rips away from the space hulk.” Marginal success
DM: “everyone wearing space suits?”
A chorus of “yes” from around the table
DM: “everyone roll dex saves”
Everyone succeeds.
DM: “you manage to not get sucked into space.”
PF: “Alright, now I activate the emergency fuel rod dump and launch it at the space hulk”
DM: “the what?”
PF: “Every nuclear powered ship has a way to eject the fuel in case it goes critical”
DM: “ok. Roll.”
Success
DM: “ok. You eject the fuel rods and the ship is now on backup generators. The radiation hazard in engineering is now lowering. Also upon hitting the space hulk, the fuel rods go critical, blowing a huge hole in the space hulk”
PCW: “that was so stupid that it somehow worked.”
PF: “Two birds with one flyswatter”
PCW: “You mean one stone, right?”
PF: “no because that implies it wasn’t absolutely idiotic”
