WHEW! Finally my wrist has healed for the most part and I’m free to draw again, but I figured I should do a bit of a warmup before I got back into the grind. Soooooooooooo here’s a quick character exploration thing for Hylia, the goddess of Hyrule! <:

Some real quick headcanons for this lass:

-Hylia is the fourth Golden Goddess and is the patron over Hope and the element Earth. When her sisters departed after creating the world, Hylia was the last goddess remaining in order to provide the developing lands of Hyrule protection and guidance. Of the goddesses she is by far the most revered, and that reverence has carried on even when she was reborn as a mortal.

-Hylia is who Zelda once was before she became mortal. As a result, Zelda herself is a mortal goddess and, once she unlocks the entirety of her potential, is able to revert back to this form for brief periods of time. While in her “goddess form”, Zelda is more resilient against damage and has the ability to fly, and her magic is at its strongest when in this form.

-Hylia being reborn as Zelda in the first place was the result of the goddess being desperate for Hyrule’s future. During the battle against Demise, both she and her Chosen Hero were mortally wounded, and the goddess used the last of her strength to seal the Demon King away. Given how weak she had been when the seal was put in place, she knew it wouldn’t be too long before it eventually gave way. And with the knowledge that she’d eventually succumb to her injuries, Hylia was afraid of leaving Hyrule without anyone to protect it against the Demon King. So in an act of desperation, she enacted a three-step plan.

The first step had her embedding the Triforce of Courage into her Chosen Hero while she absorbed the Triforce of Wisdom into herself. Instilled with the essence of her Sisters, the energy of the Triforce would allow both she and her Chosen to not only hold its power, but also allow their souls to carry over in a guaranteed reincarnation. To reincarnate meant she’d retain her own power as a goddess with the consequence of becoming mortal, a price she was more than willing to pay if it meant the safety of Hyrule.

The second step was the creation of Fi, the spirit of the Master Sword, in order to help guide her Chosen Hero in his next life so he could be prepared to face Demise once again. Fi was also tasked in the protection of the Master Sword, to ensure no one but the Chosen was able to wield its power.

The final step was allowing the last of her essence to splinter off into the creation of more deities, all of whom were tasked with protecting the world to the best of their abilities in her absence. Some of these deities include the Great Fairies, the Guardian Dragons, Levias, and the Great Deku Tree.

-Due to the Triforce being absorbed by Zelda, Link, and Ganondorf, if anyone wanted to wield its power they’d have to siphon it from each of the three’s lifeforce. This is a large reason why Demise (after possessing Ganondorf), after undestanding what Hylia has done in her efforts to thwart his plans, doggedly pursues both Link and Zelda throughout the entirety of their lifetimes.
