so picture this: a tiger just attacked your friend, right? so you, knowing that itll only go after your friend, start poking the tiger with a stick. and it attacks your friend again. and then you give yourself a congratulatory pat on the back for “getting the tiger back” for attacking your friend. when your friend calls you out on this you tune them out and keep poking the tiger and keep congratulating yourself for being a good tiger-attack-survivor ally as they get attacked. you dont reach in to help them at any time.
