  8. crunchtoasty said: It was implied to be a metaphor thingy. He couldn’t choose much in his life so he kept his shoes untied. I think I heard someone say “he chose to hold himself back by not tying his shoes” but I think it’s far more likely he just used it as an act of rebellion against other people choosing things for him. That’s why at the end of the movie he does tie his shoes or something because he chose to take a leap of faith to become better.
