I think that the most beautiful part about Steg Multiverse is the fact that Greg’s first time fusing was specifically to save Pearl. Ever since Mr Greg, the budding friendship between the two of them has always been one of my favorite understated details in the show, but Steg takes on an extra layer of irony when you remember where they came from.

Back when Greg and Pearl were still competing for Rose’s attention, fusion was the thing Pearl lorded over Greg because he couldn’t do it. Wherever his relationship with Rose went, fusion was something that he would never get to experience.

Cut to today, and not only does Greg get to fuse with somebody, but he does it with the single goal of reminding Pearl who she is and giving her sense of self-determination back. It’s amazing.
