how come static electricity was a much more prominent issue when i was like 7. i rarely deal with it at all anymore but back then it seemed like it was a routine part of daily life 

smaller gait and you were more likely to not wear shoes when you were 7.
essentially you were shuffling in socks a lot more when you were younger
