She doesn’t think of GLaDOS’s insults as malicious. GLaDOS isn’t trying to hurt you. She’s trying to motivate you, so you’ll do better in testing. From her perspective, she’s trying to help.

He’s trying to imitate GLaDOS’s methods in order to get better test results.
It’s because he’s going through withdrawal symptoms and not getting enough solution euphoria to satisfy himself that he thinks that Chell isn’t testing properly.
This is why he tries to use GLaDOS’s methods to see if it will help. He’s just imitating her.))

OF COURSE it’s to motivate you. Being petty and mean for the sake of being petty and mean is a waste of time and energy, and any self-respecting robot who wants good test results would know that.
