to everyone saying he should ask marion for her blessing instead, I would like to say that he got this idea from fjord while also trying to keep it a secret that he was asking for advice about jester. Fjord is just like “well if you really like this girl and want to be serious about it, try asking her father for his blessing. it will show that you are serious about this”
