• the fact that this little girl could ask for anything and asked for a sextant
• the fact that this little girl knows what a sextant is
• the fact Elsa knows it as well 
• ELSA IMPROVISING AN ICE SEXTANT

• the little girl’s pure joy as she crafts it
• the way Elsa hands it over with doubt and confusion

With Elsa constructing whole functional castles + add-ons, clothing and living beings I’m not surprised she can magick nerd stuff that works, lol!

Elsa’s expression while creating the sextant improves the scene immensely by implying an unspoken internal dialog: “Okay, a sextant, I know what that is, wait, it’s not just one piece, it has moving parts, is she going to want a working sextant? Better make it functional just in case. Okay that looks right, I hope it works… Oh good, she’s happy with it!”

a sextant, also called a heliotracter, is used to tell the angles between objects, most commonly that of horizon and sun for navigation. BTW, for anyone who thinks i made up heliotracter, it’s a 1800′s word that comes from helios (sun) and protractor.
