Those posts that are like “you’ve found a mysterious briefcase full of Crime Cash, how would you spend it without arousing suspicion?” were clearly not written by anyone who’s ever owned a really, really shitty old house. Like, do you have any idea how eager the sorts of home contractors who are willing to work on places like this are to be paid in cash? That’s a tax-free windfall as far as they’re concerned, so long as they can contrive not to report it – and they’re extremely good at not reporting it. With a briefcase full of Crime Cash, I could get this place renovated from top to bottom, and the people doing the work would erase the money’s paper trail so thoroughly that even Sherlock Holmes would never find it.

What makes you think most home improvement shows aren’t already money laundering schemes?
