When I first saw a post from here back when I started Tumblr, I thought it would be an interesting place to see what different artists hid from others, since I enjoy hearing things like this. Over time, I learned that this was not the case. What is mainly submitted to here just seems to be “X is so stupid! I hate their art/story/whatever!” which results into “X is best artist! Leave him/her alone!” and a whole chain of ‘confessions’ defending or attacking said artist.

This blog seems to be the breeding ground for opinions and strong feelings for those opinions, and from the title of the blog, that shouldn’t be the case. If all the people submitting to here are just going to continue the endless cycle of sharing their unpopular opinion on artists, then this should be called something like “MLPArtOpinions” or something. (That would actually make a good blog if there isn’t one already, now that I think about it…)

I know that, seeing from the tags I can choose from, that opinion is part of a confession, but from all the recent confessions, that seems to be all of what makes up these. I just see opinions being tossed back and forth which causes fans and haters to get riled up and then people like me sitting back and waiting for the storm to die down.

A few opinions like these are okay, but after awhile, they get repetitive and just make me think, “Alright, people like and hate this guy. Move on to something more interesting.”

I confess that I had hope in the maturity of submissions, but now I see that if a person comments on what they think of a specific user and then chaos ensues, then I’m not sure what to think about the MLP art community anymore. (This doesn’t go towards the mods at all. Sorry if I made it seem like it did. I really like the mods of this blog, by the way. You guys are awesome~)

An MLP art confession, in my opinion, should be something hidden that an artist or fan goes to reveal, not an obvious thing, like they like a certain artist. We can see that by your deviantART favorites or however you express liking a certain artist. We don’t need you adding fuel to the unnecessary fire. (I think I am doing just that by submitting this.)

In short, this is why I don’t follow or contribute to confession blogs. Most of these seem really…childish…
