“Punk” spiked clothing makes it much harder for someone to find a spot to grab onto you. Isn’t that interesting? How some rivets on your jacket and wrists can make it much harder to detain someone? I just thought that was a fun little detail in fashion everyone might want to know :)

Diy clothing is extremely easy to identify. Even if you don’t add band logos.

A guy wearing a spiked vest assaulted me at a show once. It scratched up my shoulder while he was grinding on me but it didn’t prevent me from grabbing him by the vest and yanking him down to the ground and standing on him when someone crowdsurfed by.

Also there’s like a whole layered history of subcultures and why punks wear embellished leather and denim jackets but long story short it’s not about avoiding stabbings or cops, it’s about an aesthetic callback to post WWII bikers which is PRETTY COOL honestly and a good jacket will totally prevent road rash and save your skin from getting torn up if you fall in a pit.

But they are not cop-and-stab-repelling armor just wear a plain hoodie and cover your face and run.
