Is a crossbow a gun? What about a bow and arrow? What about a stapler? Where is the line between gun and everything else?

demilypyro:

I think it has to go boom inside to be a gun.

a crossbow is a firearm but not a gun.

Typically, it would be criminal to own a shotgun with a barrel that is that short. However, since the stock of the weapon has been replaced with a pistol grip, it doesn’t count as a shotgun/rifle. It’s just a cute lil pump action cannon

I think it comes from a big siege weapon that was just huge and scary and destructive, so when the first firearms (cannons and mortars and such) were coming around it reminded people of that big scary destructive weapon so they were also guns and it just kept going. I think. Could be wrong. Crossbow could be gun, but it just has to be Thicc.
