tl;dr - we were paid pennies for full page illustrations, the mcelroys didnt know and are now trying to get contributors fair compensation.

this goes to show how important it is to talk openly about your pay as a freelancer - it's crucial to cultivate an industry environment with strongly enforced ethical pay standards, and in which the people with the power to do something about it know when something's wrong.

Hey so this happened, huh? I'm definitely not the person to thank here several brave folks spoke up very loudly and sent very well-worded emails.

Take from this, that you have power as an artist and even more so when you stick together.

Talk to your peers about pricing, contracts, deals that make you uneasy. No matter how young you are, how new to this, you deserve to be paid fairly for your labour.
