trans people tell me what writers always get wrong/what you wish they would get right

  1. we dont just stare at ourselves in the mirror, I get the drama of if but it’s just not a thing
  2. when you deadname trans people, it hurts really bad, but not like “crying on the floor covering their ears” hurt
  3. wearing multiple binders doesnt change the flatness, it just hurts
  4. almost nobody binds with bandages, even if they dont have a binder: I wore tanktops layered on top of each other
  5. dysphoria is irrational, I get dysphoric about my eyelashes being “too long” ok it doesnt make sense
  6. trans people dont say anything when strangers missgender them
  7. there isn’t a traumatic experience that causes it, even if they were born a boy they were always a girl and vice versa
  8. trans people dont out themselves unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary or they feel safe with that group
  9. we dont always choose names close to our deadnames
  10. “nice name” “thanks I picked it myself” is a common trans joke
