Fun fact, the wachowskis put a lot of trans subtext into the movie. They themselves were in the closet about being trans at the time of writing it. unfortunately some of the more obvious ones, such as switch being trans got removed due to executive meddling. Swiitch was originally supposed to be played by a pair of brother and sister twins with the brother playing her outside the matrix and the sister playing her inside.
