I truly believe people only think tumblr is “dead” because it isn’t like, specifically engineered to capitalize on FOMO the way twitter is. The tags and archive system may not be great but they do at least exist, and I know content I made over a year ago (and hell… at least one piece of fan art from 2011) will continue to be discovered by new people because there’s at least some semblance of a way for people to actively seek out content they want to see. I retweet something and a month later if I want to see it again I just have to scroll and pray lmao so it absolutely feels like the feed is constantly new and moving but as a result you have to be prepared to play the game with absolute precision just to be seen
