Any Metal Gear Solid movie is doomed to fail because the interactive nature of a video game is integral to the narrative throughout the franchise.

You’re not gonna get Psycho Mantis reading your memory card or forcing you to change controller ports from a movie.  Your screen going to Hideo 1 will not have any meaning on a big screen in a theater.  Having to physically mash to withstand torture and Ocelot recognizing if you cheat using a 3rd party controller will be lost on a movie going audience.  Your stamina ticking dangerously close to empty as you climb an absurdly long ladder as the game’s main theme begins to play for no apparent reason will not hit the same way in a film.

Halfway through the Psycho Mantis scene you have to get up, exit the auditorium, and sneak into the next theater to see the rest of the movie
