I tried to make several sarcastic posts about the double-standard between BLM protestors and the Trump supporters storming the Capitol today but honestly I can’t even be witty about it. It’s just awful. It’s the problem laid out as clearly as it could possibly be.
If a bunch of BLM marchers attempted to break into a federal building and sent the House and Senate into lockdown I have no doubt the highest excusable force would have been used. It would be shut down. It would be labeled terrorism, instantly.
But when it’s over an imagined election fraud, and not the lives of minorities, it’s being spoken of in the most mild terms.
There are political and historical experts on both sides saying “this is disgraceful, this is a coup attempt, this is illegal, this is terrifying,” and it’s still not over.
