Many scholars would agree that Sun Wukong from Journey to the West is based on the Hindu deity Hanuman, who was first mentioned in the Rigveda around 1500 BCE and featured heavily in the Ramayana epic. Sun Wukong is known as Son Gokū in Japanese, and Goku from Dragon Ball, known in Japan as Son Goku, is a very explicit allegory to Journey to the West. According to The Goddess in India: The Five Faces of the Eternal Feminine By Devdutt Pattanaik, Hanuman, known for his celibacy and martial prowess, was worshiped as a patron deity for wrestlers and other martial artists who believed that they could achieve superhuman strength through celibacy. So basically what I’m saying is that Goku NoFap memes are theologically significant and have a historical precedent spanning back 3500+ years,
