The rise of sea shanties is indicative of a desire to come together and sing during a time when we are apart. The shanty is by its nature welcoming of all, inviting people of every vocal range and skill level to join in. Unlike choirs, there is no overt religious component to the shanty, allowing it to be a truly unifying form of music. In this essay,
