after my surgery the nurse was telling me how and when to mositurize my scars, and she said in these exact words, “whatever you do, do not let your nipples dry out.”

And all I can think about ever since is that as a gameplay tip during a video game loading screen

your nurse is a godsend! this is really important information. during surgery, they cut your nipples off and sew them back on. there’s a relatively large chance (i don’t remember the percentage i think it’s around 40%) that your body will reject them and they’ll fall off. keeping them moisturized is KEY to: help them heal faster and correctly, decrease chances of infection, decrease chances of them getting so dry and scabby that they just fall off, and most importantly help them stay on!

here’s a tip for those who are healing or plan on getting top surgery: when you change your dressings for your nipples, make sure to use the antibacterial cream they give you every single time until it’s safe to keep the dressings off entirely (even then, you should still use it until they’re completely healed). it’s petroleum-based so it’ll keep them moist. if you don’t have this, you can use the strongest Neosporin you can find at the store.

long story short, keep your nips moist or they might fall off.
