since it’s almost the year anniversary of Sonic 2020, can we talk about how they set up two separate reveals for Tails? One for fans and one for general audiences?

The reveal for fans being the shoes, we all know what Tails looks like, so the reveal for Fans was right here, along with the music cue.

However, as good as this reveal is, General Audiences may not know about Tails, I know my dad certainly didn’t, so bring in reveal number two.

His two tails.

i you look at the shots before the one revealing his twin tails, you see that it’s shot like he only has one

general audiences would assume based on real life, and even possibly fuzzy memories of tails, that “Oh! he’s a fox” before seeing the two tails and the flight, and realizing that he’s no ordinary fox.

now there’s a LOT of cinematography that i could do into about this 10 second scene. The leaves forming a tornado before he arrives, the circling camera revealing his face, the fact that Tails, flying, takes the same route that Sonic does during Sonic’s introduction to green hills, continuing the ever going theme that Tails copies and follows Sonic. 

But in tldr terms? Jeff Fowler is a fucking genious. thanks for coming to my tailstalk

That moment they reveal his two tails is SO good! It’s a perfect introduction.
