I have an unbelievably funny idea for a prank but it would require a $100 or more investment in miniature REI tents so it’s never going to happen.

I want one of those scaled-down display tents they have at REI that’s just a tiny version of the full-size tents—something completely functional, but too small for a human. Not obviously dollhouse-sized, but large baby-sized; only the very smallest record-breaking outliers of adults could fit comfortably inside.

I then want to get a miniature sleeping bag at the same scale, some very small clothes, and some fun-sized groceries. I want to erect the tent in my park that’s closed to the public and arrange everything so that it looks like someone has been camping there—clothes strewn around or drying on a line, trash in a little bag, maybe the remains of a miniature campfire.

Then I want a conspirator to call in as a park visitor while my coworkers are working and report an illegal recreational campsite. I’d need my boss in on it to make sure no one tried to call the cops, but I’d want to ensure that my coworkers would go out and see what appears to be a perfect real campsite apparently being used by a single 20 inch tall adult.

I’m not actually going to do this, but I really want to see how people would react.

imagine one of these—or TWO of these—with a little 5 quart cooler lunchbox filled with a full weekend’s worth of mini packs of food and little baby utensils. some tiny dirty laundry and toiletries shoved inside a modified dopp bag.
