Hello, I have frustrations about being an 'essential worker' during the pandemic.

I like how this has over 2000 notes and we pretty much all agree that it's ridiculous.

I don't hate the idea of entry level work having entry level pay. I hate the idea that companies never EVER seem to let you rise beyond that position to get reasonable pay, and yet expect you to continue working there in the hopes that in 10 years you might end up in a position with even worse house but finally decent pay.

Entry level positions often do more work than higher paying positions.

Also there's no such thing as "entry level bills" everything still costs the same amount for people working entry level jobs as it does for people who have been working longer. It's just that we have decided that it is socially acceptable for people in "entry level" positions to live a lower quality of life than others.

Not to mention the fact that "entry level" is a deeply suspect and abused job category. How many times have you seen a job listed as entry level that asks for prior experience? Because I have only ever seen one that does NOT ask for that. And my job is related to graduate employment so I see a LOT of entry level job ads.

minimum wage was established explicitly so that someone could live comfortably for the work they do. in fact it was so that a nuclear household could live off of one persons paycheck. Dont let anyone make you think that entry level jobs dont deserve enough to live off of
