Me about to write an AU where Hell begrudgingly promotes Crowley to the rank of Duke on his marriage to Aziraphale and they do a ton of shit to flaunt it

And conversely, if Aziraphale and Crowley get married that counts as an angel saving a demon’s soul, which gets Aziraphale promoted to Seraph, and doesn’t that piss off the Archangel Fucking Gabriel. 

Aziraphale’s promotion comes straight from the high office, and it blows up every single inbox on the way down. The permissions are locked to ‘do not reply’. Aziraphale only learns this a blissful week-and-a-half later, when he fires up the darling old Armstrad to sort out a few inventory snags, and discovers that Outlook has spontaneously manifested in order to offer a cheerful little explosion of congratulations at him, requests that he keep a copy for his records, and promptly uninstalls itself once more without the benefit of either cable or wifi connection.

Crowley’s promotion is ultimately the result of a popular vote, though no one’s quite sure how, or why, or when Hell started holding votes, or how any of the ticket was nominated. They make him give an acceptance speech, which is conducted with all due decorum–and a great deal of spluttering from the largely-unwilling recipient–on the front stairs up to their cottage.
