- After Henry’s death, his younger brother Charles becomes heir apparent and is crowned King Charles I in 1625.
- Charles I is unpopular with the English Puritans for a number of reasons, including his marriage to a Catholic. Many of them emigrate to America, including Mary Folger in 1635.
- Folger settles in Massachusetts and her grandson, Benjamin Franklin, is born there in 1706.
- Franklin travels to Philadelphia in 1722, and finds work with Samuel Keimer, founder of the Pennsylvania Gazette. Franklin purchases the business from Keimer in 1729.
- Under Franklin, the Gazette becomes one of the most popular newspapers in America. In 1821, it is rebranded as the Saturday Evening Post.
- In 1927, the Post prints a cartoon from 23 year old illustrator Theodor Geisel. Encouraged by this success, Geisel moves to New York City that same year, and becomes a published cartoonist.
- Geisel takes the pen name of Dr Seuss and publishes the children’s book, The Lorax, in 1971.
- The Lorax is adapted into a feature film in 2012, gains a following on tumblr, and we all know what transpires.
