I was talking to one of my friends about shipping and she told me how allegedly a big reason why star wars fans ended up shipping the space fascists (one of whom is barely a character) more than Poe and Finn (which practically writes itself) is b/c white fans felt like they couldn't write kinky smut fic of Finn and Poe b/c sexual aggression is a negative stereotype for both black and latino men so they couldn't make either of them a dom without it being Problematic(tm) which meant that all the popular Finn/Poe fic was soft and fluffy and so the slash fans who wanted filthy porn (most of them) moved over to Kylux and I feel like if that's true you can still just file that under racism, which is most people's explanation for why Kylux was more popular, but it's racist in a much more stupid and roundabout "only in fandom" way that makes me want to become the jonker
