I thought that “the king gets into trouble by agreeing to grant a request before he hears what the request is” was a more well-known fairytale trope
like legit if you ask me for a favor i will reflexively respond “depends what it is” and i have had people get MAD at me about that like bitch i am not dumb what if you ask me to give you my throne and my daughter’s hand in marriage it’s not like i’m not gonna go back on my word
