What do you call a person who only speaks 1 language?

An American.

I thought Americans got Spanish in school?

american education is a joke. we are required to take a foreign language class to graduate highschool but we only need one credit and dont learn anywhere near enough to actually be usefull

White several-generation Americans just only speak English for the most part.

They barely keep the roads functional, so you ain’t getting any kind of learnin’ in Oklahoma, but in Pennsylvania, the language courses in my HS included Spanish, French, Italian and German, with a Japanese class available as well! The latter was done remotely (with the teacher on a TV, using a camera elsewhere) due to the lower demand, but still!
