I fully agree… Make it an OP god, make it a over appreciated dictator, make it a demon pony zlink-Norf mix from the 29th dimension for all I care! What dictates how “good” an OC is how much creativity is put in it sure you can make one that looks like every other character in the show of you want, as long as it’s creative and well worked on..

Well not exactly. While I am fine with how anyone makes there character, just because you make it some sort of demi-god alicorn does not make it “original”. You don’t want so much on your character that it hurts to look at but you also want to put a lot of thought into not only into the design but most importantly the character. Make sure you fully think through and develop a, at bare minimum, seemingly realistic back story and try to fully think of there personality. No one wants any one-dimensional caricatures!

Just because a characters design is original doesn’t mean its a good character. Don’t go telling anyone that since it can bring such a wrong influence. What makes a character appealing is the way they act, and if they look cool that’s just an added bonus!

Along with that said, the whole “super God-like being OC” thing is actually really over used, along with alicorns. That doesn’t mean that it can’t be done well, but having that OC super OP is what ruins it for me.

I’ve been making OC’s for years now, and I personally say that the character its self is more important then the design.

Pony Creator is just a tool for unoriginal artists to use to generate bland characters, albeit, it can be used if you have a character fully designed but don’t know what colours to use. 

Cant argue with that.   Colors are a good reason to use creator

IF YOU’RE GONNA MAKE AN OC, DON’T MAKE THEM UNORIGINAL AS FUCK. NO ONE CARES THAT THE BAT/DRAGON WINGS ARE CANON, IT’S STILL FUCKING DUMB.

If you’re gonna make an oc, give them flaws like any other character has. Give them a story of why they’re the way they are and why they have the flaws. Make them seem like any other pony but have a reason to follow them. Make them relatable so we can care for them. You don’t need a bat god demon pony to be badass. Just have an average pony thrust into a unique situation.
