it's like by 2005 we'd finally figured out how to make functional online communities with reasonable moderation practices etc. and it's cute to look back on those ideas now because the modern social media sites completely ignored them all and said what if we skip all this "community" nonsense and just dump everything into a rich stew of insanity that simmers 24/7 and by god it worked
