people on twitter really will just say anything

loving the weird immensely fucked up implication that children are just like.. only brought into the world for the sake of YOUR entertainment or YOUR own sense of fulfillment. a box to tick off a “successful life” checklist. an object you NEED. not like.. a living breathing person who deserves parents who want them for more than just.. a dress-up doll. a prop. a point to make. lol

this is how most conservatives see their children, and for that matter, their friends.

growing up, I got told that my high school friendships didn’t matter after high school unless I was planning to marry them. the entire purpose of my life, once I turned 18, was to get married. then i was expected to pump out a couple kids, in order to mark off both my and my parents’ “successful life” checklist.

friends are accessories for when your life is sexy and fun. children are accessories for when your life is meant to slow down and have Meaning.

it’s a sick, stupid way to live.

These are all good points but what’s getting me is how this guy expects us to find it perfectly intuitive that having fun and being sexy after age 40 is too preposterous to imagine

im gonna have fun and be sexy all my life regardless of age.
