Collecting Rain Water is a start

They actually tried to make that illegal in places.

“Oh but if you collect rainwater then you’re stealing from the water company and your neighbors”

No one owns the water. You know why? Because it evaporates.

If I collect rainwater, some of it is gonna evaporate before I use it. When the reservoirs collect rainwater, some of it evaporates before they can send it to your house.

When I use that rain water for watering my plants a week after the rain’s left, that’s the same water that was going to go into the ground a week ago. No one lost anything, they just had to wait. Because they don’t need it all at once. This is more efficient.

When I use that rainwater for drinking, it’s gonna be processed in my body and then removed from my body via the toilet, which connects to the water treatment facility, where it gets recycled and–though some evaporates in the process–goes back directly into the city pipelines.

People will do crazy things to you just for making them lose 5 cents per month.
