Do literally none of you know a single damn thing about contemporary men’s fashion?  News Flash!  The setting for today’s episode is a city based upon Manhattan.  New York in general is known for being one of the fashion capitols of the world.  As the MLP:FiM universe is a few steps behind our world in terms of culture and technology, it is likely that the ponies of Manehattan are intended to mimic an almost “old Hollywood” sense of style.  The pony above looks more as though he is intended to be dressed like, for example, Humphrey Bogart, rather than the ludicrous stereotype being shoehorned into repetition by people all-too-eager to find something - anything - to make them feel “superior” to someone else.  Considering that I have yet to personally witness anyone matching this stereotype, even at a Walmart, I have to question the alleged prevalence it has anywhere, let alone in any specific fan base.

Secondly, the addition of Tardar Sauce for a cutie mark allows for one, widely recognized symbol that embodies “grumpiness”, and also appeals to both children and adults alike.  Are you people truly not yet aware that cats basically own the internet?

The assumption that the above pony is intended to be some kind of snide acknowledgement of the males in this fan base is just another example of exactly the kind of mindset I’ve been talking about.  It’s just a Salem witch hunt using asinine behavior instead of fire and stones.

Honestly.  You people act as though we’re still in middle school, and it’s getting a bit disheartening that anyone beyond the age of 12 would continue to conduct themselves like little boys giggling at their mother’s clothing catalogs.  If we would all like to graduate to our age levels and realize that all groups are composed of unique and diverse individuals, rather than some faceless entity fabricated out of ignorance, then that’d be super.

It’s appalling how quickly so many people will hop on board the latest Condescension Bandwagon just for a quick shot in the arm of “superiority”.

(Pardon me for copy/pasting my previous response, but I felt it needed reiteration with the proper visuals for comparison.)

See? This is better than just saying, “Look what you Bronies did. You made Hasbro personify the fandom”

This is a better explanation for this character.
