So whenever people are asked who their favourite character is, they usually say Toph. Makes sense, she’s rowdy and makes jokes about her own disability turned strength and yeah, she is a strong character.

But she is not my favourite.

Iroh is. From the start, it’s clear that he’s not really a bad guy, more of a neutral. More of a voice of reason. And as you get to know more about his backstory, it becomes clear why he does this. He’s not a silly joke telling elder, he’s a tired old  man who is trying to help his nephew to the correct path. He sees beyond nationality, he sees beyond what the firenation believe. He fought for the city he once tried to conquer. And even on his dead sons birthday, he finds a way to help out the lives of people around him. He even finds a way to forgive his nephew who betrayed him. He is, in my opinion, the best character in avatar.
