I give up on that person. They don’t know the difference between worshiping as a god and following as a king. While Bowser has followers from his kingdom, they still follow him as a king. Nobody willingly builds shrines of him and all his statues are from his own vanity.
Celestia, Luna and Cadence are worshiped as gods. Ponies built shrines of them and their lives have become myths in books. Ponies see have holidays to celebrate Celestia raising the sun and Luna turning evil.
Let me add some more characters who have been mistaken for gods…
Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star. Can kill a man by pressing on a pressure point, survived having most of his blood drained from his body, able to expel venom from his body, is hailed a miracle in the post apocalyptic world of 199X.
Albert Wesker from Resident Evil. Has a messiah complex, can raise the dead with the T-Virus, plenty of loyal followers, has survived being dropped in an active volcano.
Goku from Dragon Ball. Most powerful character to come out of Japan, can generate enough energy to blow up planets, able to move instantaneously, everyone relies on his power to save the day, came back from the dead multiple times (with the Dragon Balls mind you) and even has ascended to godhood as of late.
Chelle from Portal. She’s quick witted, survived being on the moon and drugged constantly, worshiped by robots, able to jump through portals.I could go on but I have other things to do.
