RAREWARE FLASHBACKS
Hey, does anyone remember when yahoo bought tumblr and nothing happened? Yeah, it’s probably gonna be the same.
Except the last time Microsoft bought a game developer (Rareware) they got directly involved with what said developer was producing. Many projects were cancelled due to copyright deals with other publishers falling through.
Rareware had an amazing track record up to the purchase but ever since working for Microsoft, they haven’t put out a single big hit, except for maybe Viva Piñata. That was back in 2002. 12 years ago. Let me repeat: They haven’t had a seriously successful game in a dozen years. And what do they do these days? Last we heard of them, they were developing games for the Kinect. The Kinect.
Though obviously nobody can say for sure that history will repeat itself, suffice it to say this isn’t a good sign.
That is a very valid point and microsoft was so up their ass when they bought rare that the thought they now owned DK. An it’s a shame there was never a third installment in the banjo series or another game like dk 64.
