Welcome to Earth ❤.

tpk-universe:

Bismuth: hey Lapis! So you just became a Crystal Gem? But you were on Earth when the Diamonds attacked? How come you weren’t corrupted? Did Rose bubble you too?

Lapis Lazuli: oh no! A Bismuth poofed me and the Homeworld gems confused me for a Crystal Gem, placing me in a mirror to interrogate me. Funnily enough, the Bismuth had her gem in the same place you do… hey wait how many Bismuths were in the Crystal Gems?

Bismuth:

Bismuth: seen 10:47pm

“I’m not sure, but I think it’s a classic psychic ghost type situation.”

Watching Ruby and Sapphire kiss on the lips is so satisfying, nevermind that they’re literally two lesbians proposing and getting married on children’s programing, imo that kiss would’ve made cartoon history on its own. It’s not implied, cast off far away onto the background where you have to squint to see it, or even a quick peck on the cheek, it’s right on the lips and right FRONT AND CENTER with the shot zoomed in onto their faces holding there for a moment so it’s impossible to miss and it’s just so passionate and romantic and on your face and I gotta say after a lifetime of having to settle for subtext or “I dunno they might be girlfriends…it’s up to your interpretation ;)” from cishet creators, it feels so incredibly refreshing and I really owe Rebecca Sugar and this show my entire gay life

Rebecca Sugar fought the hell back against not only the people trying to deny that Ruby and Sapphire were romantically in love, but also the countries trying to erase the lesbianism by casting a male VA for Ruby.

She had them getting married, put Ruby in a dress with flowers in her hair so it was abundantly clear she was a woman (or a cross-dresser which I’m sure these countries wouldn’t approve of either), put the wedding in the middle of a HUGELY PLOT IMPORTANT EPISODE that they can’t just refuse to air, and had Garnet spend her entire time in the episode in her tux/dress fusion and everyone else spend the episode in their fancy clothes so they couldn’t just try to cut out the wedding stuff.

Rebecca Sugar is a fucking legend whom we don’t deserve but still somehow have B”H.

powermove; get a huge popular show and then have the lesbian wedding happen at the climax of the series where everyone who watches sees it

He’s the hero Beach City deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

considering hes got charisma to seduce essentially a warlord queen and plays the guitar, greg is 100% a bard

pordidort:

Blue Diamond: Able to remember the fusion that was formed by a Ruby and a Sapphire during an otherwise uneventful court meeting over five thousand years ago

Yellow Diamond: Can’t be bothered to remember a Gem who facetimed her and insulted her to her face like at most a couple months ago

tag yourself, im both

You know what has really made these character arcs so great and not contrived?

The writing doesn’t fault the characters for reacting negatively in the light of the revelation of Rose Quartz.

When Sapphire and Ruby reunite, Sapphire states how she was wrong for reacting so harshly and Ruby’s first words are “No, you were right.” followed by expanding on her thoughts.

Steven tells Bismuth he’s sorry for everything and Bismuth doesn’t say “It’s okay.” or “No, I was wrong.” She says “Thank you.”

I can count at least 3 different times in this bomb alone where someone asks another person “Are you okay?” to create an open dialogue of discussion.

This whole arc has been so carefully handled, because it’s a big deal. Rose Quartz was the foundation and heart of the Crystal Gems, and when the foundation is made of sand instead of stone, then the whole house sinks.

The purpose of this revelation isn’t just to create drama. It’s to truly divorce Rose’s message and ideals from the deified persona given to her, that the “Crystal Gems” wasn’t just a designated leader and their followers, but a band of equal Gems fighting for freedom for each other.

I’m willing to bet that “The Heart of the Crystal Gems” isn’t one person. It’s all of the Crystal Gems.

I think this is ultimately why Rose decided to have Steven. In order for the Gems who she loved to really achieve freedom, she’d need to recreate the foundation with something more than just herself.

You sink before you swim, and we begin the show in the midst of Crystal Gems sinking. The revelation was breaking point before finally beginning the rise back up to the surface .

Things aren’t over, there is still an ocean to cross before safety, but Crystal Gems aren’t sinking any more. They can all make it through this because their foundation lies in all of them.
