“They couldn’t come. They…died.” is the third greatest moment in Spongebob and a literal mastery of writing and humor.
It’s only followed two seconds later by the second-greatest moment in Spongebob where Squidward just lets out a demonic shriek before screaming, “THAT WOULD BE MY BAND!”
And of course, the greatest moment in Spongebob:
“That’s his…eager face.”
Naturally, I’m not including the epic musical number that followed because that’s not a moment, it’s an experience!
(For the record, the fourth greatest moment is the BIG MEATY CLAWS and the fifth is the ‘flag twirlers’ scene. The sixth is the whole scene with Sandy and Patrick, the seventh is the ‘a one, a two, a skiddlididdlidoo’—basically, the first three seasons of Spongebob and the following movie brought hundreds of amazing moments and like 90% of those were in Band Geeks alone.)
