THEORY THEORY THEORY!!! WHAT IF THE VESSEL YOU CREATE IN THE BEGINNING IS GRANTED LIFE BY THE SOUL THAT KRIS DISCARDED AND BECOMES THE DR VERSION OF FRISK
i only juuuust started thinking about, what if the ‘discarded’ vessel actually comes back up in the game… like, at first it feels like that whole sequence is just for the PSYCHE! aspect; it lures you in bc we have no idea what this will be like, and character creation segments are a given for some RPGs and games, so it feels natural to do… also we didn’t really think this would be a full game, so we were inclined to take it more seriously. so when that whole segment is thrown aside, and we’re told ‘no one chooses who they are in this world’, it seems to be that the point of the whole segment was to really make us feel that ‘our choices don’t matter’, which is the main theme of the game
however, it’d make total sense that it’s actually more significant than just that. maybe our vessel will become useful later on…. or in creating it, in giving it a gift, in being compelled to feel something for it, the vessel can become something more…
but that’s just a theory… a GA-
It would make sense as to why theres such a connection between frisk and chara in undertale if they literally share the same soul
can we get a brief summery of your opinions on each character in the lancer fanclub?
Extreme Affection, and curiosity about them as their own person… not much more to say on them that i haven’t said in other posts though! or that i’d like to say in future ones.
susie:
love that tough and rowdy girl! i gotta wonder how she got her reputation in the first place; i know that the kids talk about her seeming aggressive or unapproachable, so maybe she’s just shy and scary-looking, which lead to rumors. i think that feeds into her ‘your choices don’t matter’ mindset: she feels powerless because it doesn’t matter what she does, if people are only going to see a scary bully, then that’s what they’ll see. so she plays into the stereotype, because she might as well, right?
and that goes along with her aversion to being told she HAS to be a hero, and being reprimanded by ralsei for not being good enough. her short stint as an antagonist wasn’t a surprise at all honestly! lancer praised her for her insight and admired her for who she was without being scared of her.
all in all, she’s a biiiit of a cliche, but most things in UT/DR are at first glance. even without a full game to flesh her out, i think there’s enough here to make her compelling. she definitely feels like her own person and not just a Bully With A Secret Heart of Gold trope. and i think she’s especially compelling as a protagonist in a game where her general worldview at first matches one of the largest themes of the game, especially given she seems ready to believe in herself as someone who can choose her own path.
ralsei:
cute and likeable, of course! to me, the most interesting thing about ralsei is how, hm… hand-holdy he is i suppose? he really stresses the idea of not hurting anyone, that what we do and how we treat others matters. he sort of embodies everything that undertale tried to teach us. which isn’t totally unexpected i guess, but like… in undertale, it never felt patronizing, y’know? and that might’ve just been because the concept was relatively unique, and we saw all the time how our actions had positive or negative consequences. but here, we come in being told it doesn’t matter, even though ralsei insists that it does. it feels almost preachy coming from him! and it’s even framed as being too heavy-handed or patronizing because he’s the one who pushes susie to rebel and go to the villains’ side.
honestlyyy, ralsei feels a bit more like a caricature than his own person, to me - at least at the moment! he definitely has his own personality, but in the most benign sort of way. i don’t dislike him or anything, i think he’s very cute and has a lot of room to become more interesting. but at the moment he seems more like a foil than anything else, a sort of representation of the ideals of UT in the same way that susie embodies a lot of the ideals of DR initially.
Alright! I’ve pieced together my views on Deltarune and its connections to Undertale, and I think I can present it now as a theory.
So the most important question concerning Deltarune is where does it take place in the Timeline? Is it a prequel, a sequel or an Alternate Universe in itself?
So obviously, Deltarune has to take place in a separate Universe, since Catty and Bratty hate each other, Undyne doesn’t know Alphys, Asriel is Alive etc etc.
But I think in its connections to Undertale that Deltarune is a prequel to Undertale, but ONLY for the characters of Sans and Papyrus. I think that this is the Universe Sans and Papyrus originally came from before they ended up in Undertale.
And there is a whole lot of Evidence to Support this.
So firstly Undertale. It’s obvious in the game that Sans and Papyrus comes from a different universe to the Universe presented in Undertale. Sans mentions it himself that he might not have originated from this world in the Genocide run.
And then theirs Sans hidden Lab. This Lab has SO many connections to Deltarune.
Firstly the Blueprint.
Isn’t this the exact same blueprint that we see Lancer and Susie working on?
Of course, this could just be Toby Fox reusing files, but knowing him and the amount of effort he puts into these games, especially these little lore secrets, I’m inclined to think differently.
And then there’s the drawing.
Don’t Forget. It’s a line repeated throughout Deltarune. Over and over and over, through the music and the litemotifs. And three people that we don’t recognise? Could it be Kris, Susie and Ralsei: The supposed heroes of Deltarune?
And one final thing. Sans seems to have an unwarranted hatred towards humans in Undertale. Plus the fact, that unlike most of the monsters in the game (Except for the ones who knew of a human presence) Sans recognises you as a human from the moment he meets you. So why does he hate humans so much? Perhaps… Perhaps in a previous timeline, something happened with him. Something that ripped him away from his home and landed him in the Undertale world. Perhaps something bad concerning a human, who we can see isn’t exactly the most trustworthy.
When Deltarune finally comes out, it’s very likely that our choices don’t matter. They didn’t matter in this demo (Well they did to the tiniest extent), and we’re constantly being reminded of the fact that everything in this game is fate and that we have no control. So I believe the final ending of Deltarune will have Timebending, Universe bending impacts that we have no control over. Something that will greatly impact Sans and Papyrus.
Anyway that’s just my theory on Deltarune.
Hope you all like it.
That’s exactly what I was thinking
it would explain this
sans knew what the sun was and wasnt surprised BUT that also brings one hole in the theory. Papyus DIDNT know what the sun was. So may i propose a little amendment to the theory? Sans is from the deltarune universe but papyrus isnt. The papyrus that sans does everything he can to make happy isnt the same papyrus he grew up with.
