I love this because there is no vagueness about whether he is using a waterbending move here or not. Waterbending is based off Taijiquan, and this is a signature move in the style. Zuko is taking fire here and making it flow like liquid, and it’s fantastic.
this was the essence of avatar. learning from other cultures to better yourself. iroh knew this and learned the styles of the other nations. he taught zuko how to redirect lightning using the technique of waterbenders. zuko taught himself how to bend fire like air and water
Remember one of the core concepts of avatar. the division of elements is merely an illusion.
