Li’l Butler Begins

RISE

So the series has been around for at least 14 years then

Well it also ended after a few years. I would think it’d probably about as old as fresh prince.

since-the-900s:

I’M YELLING

Jasper has Fusion High

jasper-appreciation:

Malachite was a mutually abusive relationship no doubt. It hurt, it was painful and bad for everyone but Jasper acts like it’s the best thing that ever happened to her. She literally got on her knees and BEGGED Lapis to fuse again

image

And while it can be seen as a codependent abusive relationship I think Jasper’s side of the story will play out like a drug addiction. Malachite was totally toxic, very painful and kept her prisoner in her own body for months. And yet the feel of power she got from it, how it made her feel once she got used to it was SO AMAZING for her she needed more. Now she’s trying to go in for another hit and since it takes two to fuse, she went right back to what gave her that high in the first place. Like an addict crawling back to their dealer.

I bet what’ll happen next will be ‘Fusion Sickness’. Jasper assumed she could walk up to Lapis again and fuse because she knew Lapis was getting something out of Malachite too. Jasper thought Lapis liked it like she did. Now that she’s been rejected Jasper will get desperate, more aggressive and more pushy. Maybe look for ANYONE willing to fuse with her just to feel some level of stronger, just to get ANY kind of Fusion High going.

Once she fails to find anyone then it’ll be ‘Fusion Withdrawal’. She’ll feel her own limitations, maybe finally realize she is trapped on an enemy planet without any allies. She’ll be alone. After months of being constantly stuck with someone inside the same body Jasper will be completely alone and I don’t think she can handle that now. She might fall apart because as of Alone At Sea she came to almost identify herself as part of Malachite.

I think that’s when Steven will realize Jasper is hurting too and that he needs to help her

We’ve seen this before with sardonyx and sugalite. Pearl said she tricked garnet into fusing with her to make sardonyx because it made her feel stronger and sugalite refused to unfuse because she didn’t want to be two weak individuals. Garnet and stevonnie are probably the only non addictive fusions because they are a fusion of love, not power.

Hey wait a minute

Steven describes the Diamond bomb as “a song”

Jasper mentions knowing Rose so she probably fought in the civil war

Remember how intensely Jasper reacted to Sapphire singing in Jailbreak?

Hm.

Hmmmmmmm.

Oh dang

I mean, powers based on songs would make a whole lot of sense to the world and why Steven (and the other gems) are compelled to randomly sing. Peridot naturally being able to pick up the mechanics of notes and voice pitch rather instantly would also make more sense if gems are predispositioned to have vocal based powers rather then “lmao peri is so smart”
Jasper yelling for Sapphire to stop singing could have been more of an aggressive self preservation rather then annoyance, since she was apart of the war on Earth, she likely saw the effects of the Diamonds’ song first hand.

This also reminds me of something someone pointed out before about Jailbreak. In Jailbreak, Sapphire was singing as a message to Ruby/ the Crystal gems to find her. (Remember, she has future vision so she saw that Ruby and Steven would find her if she did this.)

Jasper didn’t punch a wall and yell at Sapphire to stop singing just to be mean. She was specifically cutting off Sapphire’s mode of communicating with the others.

Songs could also have codes in them, think of that.

Don’t forget the huge power boost that Garnet had when she started singing

Jasper: *shows up in Steven’s house unannounced* Hello there, I’m here for my 5 o’clock redemption arc.

Steven: Okay, take a seat and let’s talk about your feelings.

~3 minutes later~

Steven: Looks like our time is up. You should be dragged into the ocean or fall into an abyss by now.

Jasper: Cya next session, Dr. Steven. *walks into the ocean and gets swallowed by a giant squid*

Fusion is Addictive

hey-lets-eat-vanillish:

We see in Hit the Diamond that Ruby and Sapphire can barely function without each other. We all were like ‘oh, its no big deal! they’re in love!” and I thought that too! But now, with Alone at Sea, we see that not only is it for love, but power. Lapis hates Jasper. They hate each other. But lapis says ‘We were fused for so long…” Think all the way back to Strong in the Real Way. Garnet and Amethyst started to literally lose themselves in Sugilite. SO… Fusion is addictive. The longer you stay fused, the more the counterparts need each other.

Stevonnie ain’t so cute now huh?

Don’t forget the episode where Pearl kept messing with stuff to get Garnet to fuse with her.

They could stop whenever they want but they won’t. Addiction is a powerful thing.
