The cluster predates Peridot. But this could have been made by a gem with future vision of some kind. Or it was another Peridot.

Remember when they were drilling and they got to the layer made of Peridot? What if those were all peridots who had something to do with the cluster?

Hear me out everyone: This part of the mural is a “future vision” of Peridot going down in the drill to help/ kill the cluster. 

…still think it could the a (yellow) diamond tho…

I like that theory but does that mean rose quartz is going to return?

Maybe its a mural made by the people of Blue diamond with the assistance of gem that had similar abilities to Sapphire and it has parts of past- present and future but not left to right, but right to left. rose being in the middle could mean that the mural was made at the present moment of the rebellion.

could be steven is messing up with future sight from the past because the gems would be looking for rose quartz, not steven, so some details are getting obscured.
