But… isn’t Garnet literally a relationship? I mean, Steven said it, is was even in the song Stronger than You. I think that fusion is touching on way more complicated concepts than human sexuality.

Garnet as a person is a ace and feels no attraction other than platonic for anyone.
Ruby and sapphire are hardcore lesbians but garnet is her own person. She is not two people. That was one of the most important thing about fusions. If the people fusing have a deep relationship, the fusion is not just an amalgamation between the two. That’s why malachite is still jasper and lapis whereas garnet is garnet.

Garnet as a person is ace.
Ruby and sapphire as individuals are lesbian.

But the thing is that Garnet turns down advances not because she doesn’t feel an attraction, but because she is that relationship. She said it in episode 56 “Love Letters” to Jamie, and in the most recent episode 78 “Log Date 7 15 2″ with the line “I am Peter and Percy.” Garnet recognizes that she is a whole new being when fused, but she treats it as a physical manifestation of their relationship, because that is what it is. If this relationship is destabilized, the fusion falls apart.

But she still doesn’t feel attraction towards other people other than platonic which is what makes her ace.

Lol I tried slowing down Peridot’s rant in the latest SU episode because one of the crew members said you could hear something interesting and of course you can hear Peridot talking about the TV show she was watching but I noticed there was a voice sped up twice the speed of Peridot’s in the audio so I slowed it down more and tried to isolate it. You can make out “we are about to launch the first major…” and “a product of…”

I heard “we are about to launch the first (…) since 1977″
I think this may have something to do with the Voyager space probe, or something else with NASA.
