old videogame commercials are wild. the way the first kid describes the game makes it seem like pitfall harry sent him on a cross country trip to steal something that accidentally summoned a demon that he had to fight in a music contest.
stylized graphics will always hold up better than whatever the latest photorealistic graphics are.
One of my favourite thing to do is beating games without using the main function of it. Like, pokemon ORAS has a story that depends on your ability to use mega evolution despite you can get through nearly everything without it. People will still act as though you rely on it and be like “oh, I knew as soon as you mastered mega evolution that you were going to beat the champion” and “I can tell your pokemon love you a lot because of your mega evolutions” and you don’t even need it in the main game. In fact there is only one time the game forces you to use it is in delta episode when the game forces you to use a mega piss bitch to fight deoxys.
It had night or darkness in it’s name and the plot was you died and homonculous brings you into an escher style room and gives you a card that lets you time travel to prevent your death.
Somewhere during your time travels, you accidentally take a waitress back to medieval times and she becomes married to the duke. You also meet the alchemist.
It turns out the alchemists son blames you for his sister and fathers death so he has been killing you with a time travel device given to him by his future self and when you go to stop the alchemists experiment that kills them, you accidentally cause it and cause homonculous to be born.
Shit happens and the son gives up and it turns out homonculous didn’t give a damn about you and just needed you so that he could be created.
A few days ago, I found my old copy of mario 64 ds and decided to play it.
Only one file was on there and it only had 130 stars out of 150 so this time around, I decided to sit down on a new character and do a 100% completion.
I just finished both the main floor and the basement and got all the stars and secret stars. The only time I’ve been upstairs was to get wario. But I never really realized how easy it is to just beat the game normally. I have only been on half the floors and already have enough stars to fight the final bowser.
Update: Welp, I have all the easy levels done 100% and now I just have the eight stars of rainbow road and the eight stars of tick tock clock as well as the two stars of bowsers sky world. The problem is, I missed two secret stars somewhere and have no clue where.
Update: I found a toad that had a star that I missed. There are a total of three toad stars and I have them all. I also got all eight stars from tick tock clock so now I just have to do the worst level in the entire game. Rainbow road. Not only do I have to get all seven stars, I need to also get 100 coins and that level is big, spread out and hard to navigate. Then I have the two on bowsers level and I think the last secret star I get from catching all eight silver rabbits.
Update: I DID IT! I FINALLY GOT THE 100 COINS ON RAINBOW ROAD. NOW I CAN GO GET THE STARS! THE HARD PART IS OVER!
Okay I’ve calmed down. I got the other seven stars from rainbow road. Now I just need to get the two from bowsers sky level and need to find the four silver rabbits (I already found four) and then I would have all 150 stars.
I just need to find the silver rabbits now.
Update: I GOT IT 100%
I GOT LUCKY WHEN I WENT TO THE BASEMENT AND BOTH RABBITS WERE SILVER.
I don’t think you understand. I’ve never just sat down and completed 100% anything without a walkthrough in my life. This is actually something that I never had the chance to do when I was a kid. I’ve finally gotten some closure with this game.
